V Martinez, a bee keeper in South Western
France, began to imagine frightful interruptions to the solitude of her daily
life. A story had begun to unfold in her mind. A story based on fact and
consumed in horror. Drawing upon her complex musings, as well as local culture
and history, she was compelled to write, The Custodians.
